Far Hills is a small Somerset Hills borough with a village center, country estates, preserved landscapes and one of New Jersey's most recognizable fall traditions. Its train station, Leonard J. Buck Garden, conservation properties and Moorland Farm give a borough of fewer than 1,000 residents an unusually strong regional identity.

About Far Hills
The borough covers nearly five square miles in northern Somerset County. Far Hills grew from the rural Somerset Hills landscape and remains defined by a compact village near Route 202 and the rail station, larger residential properties, equestrian traditions and substantial open space.
The borough traces its name to the late 1880s. Local history records that Elizabeth Schley, visiting land assembled by developer Evander H. Schley, remarked on the beautiful vista of the “far hills.” The borough was incorporated in 1921.
